- 60’s Bill Blass Saks Fifth Avenue New York Three piece If you want to make un unforgettable entrance, how about this fabulous three piece suit, dress/skirt with silk bodice, cream silk top and jacket. Designed and tailored by Bill Blass for Maurice Rentman at Saks Fifth Avenue. The main fabric is a snazzy zig zag brocade in gold, with shades of pink, it is fully lined in cream silk. The main seam still bears the model’s label and date 1/12/67. In general it is in fantastic condition, the silk bodice does show signs of ageing, this is of course not visible when the suit is worn. There is a full length zip to the dress and another on the cream silk top at the back, that opens completely. The jacket features two closed pockets with flaps, split cuffs, each with a square brass button. On the front of the jacket there are two opposing buttons at the neck, then individual buttons going down the front. I was not sure, but as there are no signs of button threads/holes in the fabric, my thoughts are that there are no buttons missing, this is how it is supposed to be, possibly to compliment the zig zag fabric.
